After spending 30 years in Baltimore, we are loyal to a brand that was created and came out of our hometown–a special blend of mild Italian rope by Ferrante’ Brothers. Nick’s Sausage company’s blends were all originally made by Nick Ferrante’ who brought the recipes back from Italy and started distributing to supermarkets in the 1970’s. The blend we purchase is a special authentic recipe — a genuine pork product with fennel, white pepper and spices to give a mild premium flavor.
Our sausage is premium gourmet as compared to most food service products–even after the product is now owned by Hatfield Quality Meats, a division of Clemens Food Group. It still originates from the original recipe and we feel it’s less fatty than most. Big Fat Daddy’s has been committed to serving this top of the line product for the past three decades and supports the small family business.
TASTE TEST: Each year, we literally sit six rings of sausage on our grill to see which would contain the least amount of fats, and taste test six different brands. We found the others to be cheaper, but disguised with hot spices, meanwhile, you are pulling a piece off full of fat and almost breaking your tooth on the chunks of gristle. NO thanks.
We love Ferrante’ and that’s our story and we’re sticking to it. If you want it hotter, add some of our hot sauce on it.
